Campo Maior village (EuroBEC) is a Fortress located in Alentejo (therefore Portugal).
The “Assento das Provisões de Boca”, in Campo Maior, is a large military building whose main function was the storage of food and other products intended to guarantee the supply of the garrison of the old military square, allowing it to resist for a period extended time in case of siege.
The Seat of Military Provisions is one of the most notable buildings in this village and, of its kind, perhaps the best in Alentejo due to its workshops that had been built under the dimensions adopted in the war squae buildings (work by Lieutenant Colonel Engº Tomás de Vila Nova and Sequeira).
In 1801 (Oranges’s War) the “reorganization of the Assento das Provisões de Boca” was proceeded.
